The Highlights: errands, rest, and bowling šŸ™‚

Today we took a zero in Bishop to rest for our next section of the Sierras which will be stout with 6 high mountain passes and several rapid river crossings. How to prepare for such a journey? Lots of food…

We started with the continental breakfast at our hotel. Later, a coffee shop stop to use some good WiFi and, why not get an espresso… with ice cream.

Mmmm… affogato.

After this, Squishy and LOL picked us up for lunch at the much touted German bakery in town – Eric Schat’s Bakkery. We may have followed our sandwiches with some gelato…

Eric Schat’s Bakery.

And, while running errands earlier in the day, Squishy had found a Hot Mess trail snack for Hot Mess. Considering it’s supposed to be 100 in Bishop tomorrow, it will definitely be a hot mess.

Back at the hotel, I got a few things done online… dealing with things that happen when you are hiking in the middle of the Sierras, like credit card fraud. And other fun stuff. I was so exhausted after this, I went to the gas station next door and bought snacks.

In the evening, we met 13 other hikers that we’ve been hiking around for awhile now for some good ā€˜ole fashioned fun at the local bowling alley. The first thing we did when we got there? Ate dinner. Then, onto bowling…

Hot Mess for the strike…

We even got some swanky socks with bowling pins from the vending machine…

Cool socks FTW.

While our first game was fun, the lane we were in kept having technical glitches during the second game. The plus side was, each time it happened before my turn, I ended up with a strike, making me look like a much better bowler than I am.

I’m the B, tehehe… Shawn is HM, but his score is actually legit.

And that was about it for the day. We did our laundry at the hotel, finished any gear cleaning, and made a trip to the local outdoor sporting goods shop for a few minor things. Bowling is more exciting. Here’s some more pictures from that…

Dainty Hulk Smash’s beautiful form…

ā€œBowling is funā€ faces. Excel, Twinkle Toes, CactAss, Jinx, and Dead Zone.

Jinx, Dainty Hulk Smash, Twinkle Toes, and me.

That’s it. Bishop is a cool little town with an awesome mountain backdrop, which I’ve failed to get a picture of because I’ve been too busy eating. Better luck tomorrow.
